Perfectionism, Latin, and Joy.

I'm such a perfectionist.  Even when it comes to blogging.  I just want to write but I keep thinking how I need to do this just so.  Good grief.  Just get'er done, right???

School has been going really pretty well.  I hit a wall last week b/c I hurt my back loading my car to come home from the Woman's Retreat.  We ended up taking the week off and I think that was actually really really good for the kids and for me.  We all really enjoyed watching movies together, reading some books and just basically relaxing.  My back is better, as long as i don't over-do it.

So now back to school this week. : ) We have 7 weeks under our belt and are going to add Latin.  Yep, Latin.  Sugar Bear has been begging me for it.  I know, strange kid.  "Song School Latin" is purchased and preparred and ready to launch.  I'll review it once we get going on it.

Where does Joy come in on all this...our church just had a Woman's Retreat and it was entitled "Joy Rocks."  I was so blessed to be there.  I needed that weekend to focus on what my true joy is.  When we first got there I would have said that joy was getting a new purse.  :)  But after the first session I realized there is a great difference between Happiness and Joy.  In John 15:9-7 Jesus says that we will experience Joy IF we are:
1) Present with Him,
2) Pursing His perspective,
3) Partnering with Him in His purpose.

And that we won't experience Joy IF we are:
1) Pondering ourselves
2) Protecting ourselves
3) Pleasing ourselves
4) Promoting ourselves

Those are Joy Killers.

How many times do I let me joy be "killed?"

The biggest thing I learned this weekend...Joy comes after pain.  Most time we can't get to the Joy till we go through the pain.  God's plan is to use me, grow me, teach me in whatever manner it takes to prepare me for His work.  My perspective is often, "What is the EASIEST route to that point?"  while God's perspective is "What is the BEST route to that point?"  Hmmmmm...easiest vs. best.
